21st-Feb-2012: Chevrolet Captiva facelift version is expected to be launched by the end of March this year. The new SUV in India was present at the Auto Expo held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. New Chevrolet Captiva price is expected to be tagged in the range of Rs.20 Lakh to Rs. 22 Lakh. With this price range Chevrolet Captiva will become a tough competitor of new Toyota Fortuner, Audi Q7 and Skoda Yeti. This premium segment SUV will now be powered with 2.2 Litre diesel engine coupled with six speed automatic gearbox instead of the small 2.0 litre motor. The all new Chevrolet Captiva will now be sportier with belligerent exterior, brawnier split front grille and refreshed interiors. However as earlier, this SUV will come in India as CBU only, local manufacturing will only be done if the car garners noteworthy sales.

GM India is expected to re-launch Chevrolet Captiva SUV in an all new avatar by March. One major upgrade is the 2.2 l diesel engine which will replace the 2.0 l diesel engine in current models of Chevrolet Captiva. The new Chevrolet Captiva SUV will flaunt a striking exterior, a broader front grill and revamped interiors. It will see a hike of 2 lakh from its predecessor putting it in the premium Rs 20-22 lakh section.P Balendran, vice-president, General Motors India stated in an interview that at present the car comes to India as a completely built unit from South Korea. He further added that depending on the demand of the SUV, the company can assemble the SUV in India. At present 100 units of Chevrolet Captiva are sold per month.

While GM India is gearing up to come up with its 2012 Chevrolet Captiva, the recent news has stopped the car manufacturer in the middle of its tracks. There is apparently something wrong with the fluid carried inside the steering wheel that is the cause of the entire problem. While the car is on the first gear (good that it only affects the manual transmission variants), the steering fluid is getting overheated to a level where it could pose a threat of catching fire.
